Background Research: Shadow

Shadow
Background Research & Finding Facts

What is shadow? A shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object. It occupies all of the space behind an opaque object with light in front of it. The cross section of a shadow is a two-dimensional silhouette, or reverse projection of the object blocking the light. The sun causes many objects to have shadows and at certain times of the day, when the sun is at certain heights, the lengths of shadows change.

Shadows will always following us wherever we go while there’s a light around us, shadow not always representation our object or our body, we can play with the shadow using our hands and creativity like our father teaches us how to play with the shadow when we were young, like we can use our hands to make a rabbit shadow or dog shadow using light directly shine to our hands.

Our project similar with the games when we were young, but no need to spend your energy to make a creative shadow, only stand in front of the Kinect after that the projector will projecting our shadow with the different shadow of our body that is the iconic character from each our country.
